Consulting engineers in California are expecting to see more government work now that Proposition 35 on November’s ballot has been voted into law.

By a vote of 60 percent to 40 percent, California citizens approved a measure that will allow state agencies to freely contract with the private sector for public works projects.

Advocates of the new law are hoping that its passage will speed up the completion of a multi-billion dollar backlog of various infrastructure projects, including school retrofits and construction.
