NEMA publishes revisions to motors and generators standard

The National Electrical Manufacturers Assn. has published "MG 2-2001 Revision 1, 2007 Safety Standard and Guide for Selection, Installation, and Use of Electric Motors and Generators."

The National Electrical Manufacturers Assn. has published "MG 2-2001 Revision 1, 2007 Safety Standard and Guide for Selection, Installation, and Use of Electric Motors and Generators."

This publication is a guide to assist both users and manufacturers of driven or driving equipment in the proper selection, installation and use of machines. It identifies potential hazards and suggests ways to reduce the risks.

MG 2-2001, Revision 1-2007 revises and supersedes MG 2-2001. It may be downloaded at no charge, or purchased in hardcopy at the NEMA website.

Also available from NEMA are reaffirmations of " MG 10-2001 (R2007) Energy Management Guide For Selection and Use of Fixed Frequency Medium AC Squirrel-Cage Polyphase Induction Motors" and " MG 11-1977 (R1997, R2001, R2007) Energy Management Guide for Selection and Use of Single-Phase Motors."

MG 10-2001 (R2007) includes typical characteristics of IEC Design H and N induction motors and information about the NEMA energy-efficient and NEMA premium efficiency motor standards.
