NECA Releases Switchgear, Cable Installation Guidelines

The National Electrical Contractors Assn. (NECA) has released two new National Electrical Installation Standards.

NECA 430-2006, Standard for Installing Medium-Voltage Metal-Clad Switchgear , describes installation and commissioning procedures for metal-clad switchgear rated between 5 kV and 15 kV, installed either indoors or outdoors.

NECA/NACMA 120-2006, Standard for Installing Armored Cable (Type AC) and Metal-Clad Cable (Type MC) , covers installation of types AC and MC cables, used for electrical wiring for residential, commercial and industrial occupancies. The standard also includes information on fittings and other accessories necessary for quality cable installation.
