Michigan firm picks up ASHRAE technology award

Peter Basso Associates wins regional recognition for renovation/expansion work at a local college.

Troy, Mich.-based Peter Basso Associates has earned a first place chapter and second place regional award in the ASHRAE Technology Awards program for Technology Renovation/Expansion at Saginaw Valley State University’s Pioneer Hall of Engineering .

Peter Basso Associates provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the $16 million renovation and addition of Pioneer Hall, which houses the school’s Department of Science, Engineering, and Technology to accommodate the growing need of the university’s mechanical and electrical engineering programs. Most of the existing building was gutted in preparation for the renovation and 28,000-sq-ft, two-story addition. The first floor of the addition features a computer lab and engineering labs for the automotive, research, and robotics areas. The building also provides classrooms, meeting space, and offices for the university as a whole.
