BSA LifeStructures , Indianapolis, hired Jeff Brittain in its engineering department as an M/E/P project manager. Brittain brings 17 years of electrical experience to the firm. Robert Doster also joined the firm as a project manager. He will serve the civil/structural engineering department. He has nearly 30 years of experience in project management, structural and site design, and surveying. The firm also announced associate principals: Mark Abbey, Rich Engelhardt, Dave Halvorson, Sam Jackson, Tom Jeffs and Clay Springer , most recently held the title of senior associate. Promoted to principals are: Mike Castor, Kathy Clark, Doug Fick and Dan Miles . In addition, Kerry Dunn has been promoted to vice president of finance.

Samir Eid, P.E ., has been named a vice president of STV Inc ., New York. Eid has been with the firm since 1997, and has more than 22 years of experience in building and infrastructure project management for educational, transportation and justice facilities. Inhis new position, Eid will supervise a design studio of more than 30 architects, engineers and technicians specialized in building condition assessment, capital improvement programs and construction administration services.

Conway Consulting Engineers , Atlanta, changed its name to Conway & Owen . All contact information and company addresses remain the same.

Smith Seckman Reid Inc., Nashville, hired Joseph Undreiner as senior plumbing designer in the firm’s Phoenix office. The firm also announced that Richard Gordon , P.E., is retiring from his position of senior vice president. Gordon was a founding principal of Fordon, Gumeson and Assocs., which merged with SSR in February 2006. Gordon plans to continue serving the consulting community by providing business consulting services to engineering and architectural firms. The firm also hired Willis Collier as senior electrical designer for the firm’s Houston office and Jennifer Whitten as electrical engineer-in-training at the Dallas office.

Taft Cleveland has joined SmithGroup Inc ., Detroit as an architect. Prior to joining SmithGroup, Cleveland was a graduate architect/urban planner and healthcare planner for Albert Kahn Assocs. in Detroit.

LHB , Minneapolis, welcomed Roger Purdy as construction administrator. Purdy brings more than 20 years of experience to the firm.

T.H. Chang, AIA , and Jim Berge, LEED AP, AIA , joined HOK , New York. Chang joined the practice as principal and strategic director, and Berge fills the roles of principal and the New York office’s director of Science + Technology. Chang comes to HOK with more than 20 years of experience in planning and design of science and technology offices. Berge brings more than 26 years of experience in the design of science and design facility, including the programming and development of site criteria and management of the design process.

EYP Mission Critical Facilities , Albany, N.Y., announced that Rick Sawyer has been named director of the Critical Facility Assurance group for the firm. He offers more than 25 years of experience in data center operations, design and project management to the firm. He joined EYP MCF in September as a CFA practice leader.

Stantec has completed the acquisition of Vollmer Assocs. LLP , New York. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada-based engineering and architecture firm firm has more than 6,500 employees in more than 100 offices throughout North America. Its gross revenue was approximately $816 million Canadian. All of Vollmer’s 12 partners are continuing with Stantec.

SSRCx LLC , Nashville, announced that Paul McCown, PE, CEM, LEED AP, CxA , project manager, has been elected to serve on the 2007 board of directors for the Tennessee Environmental Council .

Dunstan Macauley, P.E., LEED AP , has joined Greenman-Pedersen Inc ., Babylon, N.Y. Macauley has more than 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
