M/E Insider: Recent New Hires and Promotions

BSA LifeStructures , Indianapolis, hired Neil A. Dixon and Wendell T. Moore as graduate interns and Michael C. Vancil as CAD technician in the architecture department. Dixon brings more than 14 years of professional experience to the firm, and Moore has six years of experience, much of that in healthcare design. Vancil has served the field for eight years.

Donald L. Walker, P.E., RCDD , joined Newcomb & Boyd , Atlanta, in the Special Technologies Group as a communications engineer and as an associate of the firm. Silas Khor, EIT , also joined the company in the Consulting Engineering Group as an electrical engineer. Joining Khor in the Consulting Engineering Group are Michael E. Long, Devin P. Yohe and Joshua W. Gazaway , all mechanical engineering students at the Georgia Institute of Technology, who have joined the firm as co-ops. The firm also announced the licensures of Matthew Eason, P.E., and Phillips Lawson, P.E. Both are associates of the firm.

Nearly one-third—243 of 800—of SmithGroup , Detroit, employees are now accredited LEED. This is a 178% increase from the firm’s 87 LEED APs in January 2006.

Jeff Pratt, P.E., LEED AP , has been named a principal at KJWW Engineering , Rock Island, Ill. Pratt serves as manager of the firm’s office in Chicago, and was named associate principal in 2005. Also at the firm , Abby Mortimore attained her Professional Engineer license. Mortimore joined KJWW in 2002 as a structural engineer.

James Posey Assocs ., Baltimore, hired Alison Mullins, P.E. , as senior project manager in the mechanical department. Mullins has 21 years of experience designing and building campus HVAC systems.

Todd J. Garing, P.E ., has been named an officer of the company for Mueller Assocs ., Baltimore. Garing, a senior engineer and project manager, has served the firm since 1993.

Angela Cremeans, P.E., LEED , has joined RTKL , Baltimore. She brings more than 25 years of mechanical engineering experience to the firm.

Benson Systems , Gilbert, Ariz., announced the expansion of its IT division. Don Needham was hired as director. He brings more than 10 years of experience in the technology industry to the firm.
