UTC Power , South Windsor, Conn., acquired Dome-Tech Group , a national energy consulting firm based in Edison, N.J. UTC Power is a unit of United Technologies Corp., Hartford, Conn., and provides environmentally advanced power solutions.

, Indianapolis, named several changes to its staff. Will Maltby, PE , has been promoted to associate principal. He has served the firm for 16 years, most recently as a senior associate. Robert Beer joined the firm as project manager. Beer has more than 28 years of industrial experience. Marsha Meckel joined the firm as a healthcare operations consultant. As a registered nurse, Meckel has served the medical field for more than 30 years. At BSA LifeStructures, Meckel will interpret what clients want in a new facility and aid in design by finding ways to save steps for clinical caregivers and improving patient flow.

Robert Roop and Julie Kelly received the Midwest Great Lakes Region 2007 Distinguished Service Award from the Council of Educational Facility Planners International. Roop, president of the Michigan chapter, and Kelly, Michigan chapter secretary, received the awards for their work in leading and founding the Michigan chapter.

Horizon Engineering Assocs ., St. Louis, named Andrew Jay Kindya, PE, LEED AP , senior engineer. Kindya has more than 15 years of experience providing mechanical and electrical engineering services. At Horizon Engineering, Kindya will be responsible for the overall building sector performance in the Midwest.

Kelley Hayes McAlonie, AIA, LEED AP ; David Johnson, AIA ; and Joseph A. Robins have been named associate vice presidents at Cannon Design , Buffalo, N.Y. Hayes McAlonie has more than 13 years of experience in the planning and design of facilities for higher education. Johnson also has more than 13 years of experience, and has served as the project designer for a range of campus, healthcare, and government buildings. Robins gives the firm more than 19 years of experience in the electrical engineering design for healthcare systems for cancer centers, acute care, and psychiatric facilities.

Opus Architects & Engineers (OAE), Minneapolis, promoted Ed Gschneider, AIA , Dean Newins, AIA , and Dale Wenkus, AIA, to principals. This newly created position is the firm’s highest level, non-officer title. Gschneider, a 13-year OAE employee, has served as director of architectural services since 2004, overseeing 100 people. Since 2003, Newins has served as director of architecture in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Wenkus has been with OAE for nine years, most recently serving as director of business services.

Carey Miller, PE , joined DLT&V Systems Engineering , Las Vegas, as director of engineering. Miller brings more than 16 years of experience in the instrument, controls, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields.

Stantec , Edmonton, Alberta, acquired Neill and Gunter , a full-service consulting engineering firm headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, with branch locations in Canada and the United States.
