ARCOM has added the MasterSpec Communications library as a result of the expansion of the Construction Specifications Institute’s MasterFormat, the master list of numbers and titles for construction specifications. BICSI and NSCA were instrumental in that expansion and provided the standards and guidelines for the development of the MasterSpec Communications library. The initial release of the Communications library includes 24 sections in Divisions 27 and 28 (Communications and Electronic Safety and Security), as well as 31 documents in Division 00 (Procurement and Contracting Requirements) and 30 sections in Division 01 (General Requirements). The development of the library involved consulting with communication industry specialists and researching BICSI and EIA/TIA standards and guidelines, among many other resources.
