The Air Movement and Control Assn. International Inc. (AMCA International) has announced that the Board of Standards Review of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved ANSI/AMCA STANDARD 540-08, Test Method for Louvers Impacted by Wind Borne Debris. The standard—available for purchase on the AMCA Web site—establishes uniform methods for laboratory testing of louvers that are impact tested with the large missile described in ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) E 1996-04 and E 1886-05.

The scope of this standard involves impact testing of louvers used on the outside of buildings as required by the International Coding Council, International Building Code, and the ICC International Residential Code.
