The U.S. market for load-leveling equipment—for storage by utilities and others who generate electricity at off-peak times for use when needed—is poised to take off, according to Business Communications Co. The market was only $11 million in 2001, but could top $1.2 billion in 2006. This would mean an average growth of more than 150% per year over the five-year period.
