Presentation: America's Energy Future: Partly Windy, Slightly Sunny, and as Uncertain as the Weather

Of the world's countries, only the United States and China use more energy than that used by the buildings sector of the U.S. economy. U.S. buildings use more energy than Russia, Japan, India, Germany, or any other of the world's nations. Most expect that energy costs will go up due to a variety of factors, yet studies show that these building waste $140 billion a year in excess energy costs today. Inefficient energy use also means extra greenhouse gas emissions creating other problems. So what does U.S. future look like when it comes to energy, environment, and efficiency?

This presentation will help engineers understand the issues involved with energy consumption in relation to nonresidential buildings-specifically in the United States-and how they can use this knowledge to enhance their individual careers, and their firm's position in the engineering community.
