• GE Infrastructure has acquired Edwards Systems Technology, a fire detections systems manufacturers that was previously part of SPX Corporation. Edwards will join GE Infrastructure, Security's Engineered Systems business.

• GeoPraxis, Inc. of Petaluma, Calif. has been awarded a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant of $70,000 for green building research. The EPA chose GeoPraxis, an engineering, architectural and construction software developer, from a pool of 363 applicants nationwide to receive the funding under the agency’s Small Business Innovation Research contracts program.

• Leviton, Little Neck, N.Y., was recently awarded Design Journal Magazine ’s Award for Design Excellence for its Z-MAX lighting control relay systems. The award is presented each year to recognize products of superior design used in the architectural and interior design professions. Products are selected from a roster of more than 1,200 entries by a panel of architects, designers and specifiers nationwide.

• Lochinvar, Lebanon, Tenn., has begun a six-state tour of the Southeast. The Hot Water Solutions Tour will wind its way through Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

• LonMark International, San Jose, Calif., has signed an affiliation agreement with LonTech Thun, based in Thun, Switzerland, an information center and interest group of end users and developers involved in LonWorks technology in Switzerland. LonTech Thun is the first member of the European community to join the LonMark Affiliation Program.

• Siemens AG and the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers signed an agreement in Erlangen, Germany on March 18 to continue and expand the exchange of knowledge between the two organizations. Siemens and the Helmholtz Association have a long-standing history of successful cooperation in the fields of basic and applied research.

• SaskPower, a power utility based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, has renewed its strategic alliance with Minneapolis-based Honeywell for the latter’s energy performance contracting program. The EPC service is an energy management service offered to commercial and institutional customers to assist them in reducing energy related operating costs through the implementation of energy efficient upgrades to lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

• Superior Manufacturing division of Magnatech, Fort Wayne, Ind., which manufactures a non-chemical water treatment system, has been awarded a membership into the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

• Flowserve , Dallas, Texas, has entered into an agreement to acquire the Interseal assets of Perth, Australia-based Ludowici Mineral Processing Equipment Pty Ltd. In other news from Flowserve, the company has formed an alliance with GE Energy, GE a preferred supplier for Bently Nevada machinery protection and asset management solutions to Flowserve Pumps.
