Industry Roundup: Acquisitions, Partnerships and Changes


• ACOL Technologies S.A., Geneva, Switzerland, a developer of high brightness LEDs and light engines has signed a distribution agreement with Micro Lamps, Batavia, Ill., for the entire ACOL product range.

• Cooper Industries, Houston, has acquired Wheelock, Inc., Long Branch, N.J., designer and manufacturer of fire safety and emergency incident communications systems and devices. Wheelock becomes part of Cooper Menvier, which is based in the United Kingdom.

• Danfoss, whose U.S. headquarters are in Baltimore, have reached an agreement with a private investment group for the latter to acquire the assets and intellectual property rights to continue production of Zone Control Panels (ZCPs), manufactured in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. ZCPs are prefabricated boiler/furnace room piping and control packages used in residential and commercial hydronic radiant floor heating and other forms of hot or chilled water systems.

• GE Energy, Atlanta, has completed its acquisition of Altair Filter Technology Group Ltd., Alton, U.K., a provider of inlet filtration solutions for the power generation, oil and gas and marine industries. Altair also has operations in Louisville, Ky.

• Johnson Controls, Milwaukee, through an alliance with Emergin, Boca Raton, Fla., will now offer its healthcare customers the Emergin’s Event Management Solution, which provides department-based and enterprise-wide connectivity for clinical and non-clinical applications and communication systems.

• Triatek Lighting, Atlanta, announced this week that it is changing the company name and will do business as Lumisys to more accurately reflect its core competencies.

• Ward Manufacturing, Blossberg, Pa., has acquired the assets of Wisconsin Nipple and Fitting Corp. of Milwaukee. This purchase expands Ward’s product offering of malleable pipefittings and unions, cast-iron pipe fittings and corrugated stainless steel tubing.
