According to a release on WaterTechOnline.com , the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has announced the release of the Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement, the first ever document that standardizes sustainable residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems.
The Green Supplement is meant to serve as a complement to any adopted plumbing and mechanical code, smoothly bridging the previously troublesome gap between existing codes and green building programs, the release stated.
The supplement covers: Use of alternate water sources (gray water, rainwater harvesting); proper use of high-efficiency plumbing products; conservation of hot water; energy conservation in HVAC systems; and training/education in green plumbing systems, according to the release.
