H and A announces staff certifications

H&A Engineers & Architects announces new certifications for engineers at the Glen Allen, Va., office.

H and A Architects and Engineers, a Richmond, Va.-based design firm, announced new certifications for its engineers at the Glen Allen, Va., office.

Senior mechanical engineer, Stefana Petrova, passed the Certified GeoExchange Designer (CGD) exam.  The CGD program recognizes professionals who have demonstrated high levels of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness in applying the principles and practices of geothermal heat pump design and related disciplines. The certification is granted by the Assn. of Energy Engineers (AEE) and sponsored by the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium (GHPC). Petrova is the first engineer at H and A to earn this distinction.

Electrical engineer, Trevor Gooding, passed the Outside Plant Design (OSP) exam and is now a Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Registered Communications Distribution (RCDD)/OSP Designer. This title indicates a telecommunications professional who demonstrates proficiency in outside plant design, including: OSP right-of-way and route design; OSP space design (maintenance holes, ducts, vaults); underground, direct-buried, and aerial plant design; OSP cabling hardware; and OSP grounding, bonding, and electrical protection systems.

Electrical Engineer, Andrew Fleenor, passed the U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Associate exam. The LEED Green Associate accreditation denotes basic knowledge of green design, construction, and operations. H&A has six LEED Green Associates on staff.
