Green News from Zentox, Veris and TACO; SimplexGrinnell Sets Up Sprinkler Business Unit

Zentox, Newport News, Va., has received certification by BuildingGreen for Photox, a stand-alone advanced air purification system. The product is now listed in the GreenSpec directory of green products.

Veris Industries, Portland, Ore., a supplier of control system peripherals for the commercial HVAC industry, will increase its efforts to abolish the use of hazardous substances as specified by the European Union’s RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive on chemical substances. RoHS is a European legislative directive that bans the use of lead, mercury, hexavalent chrome, cadmium, PBB and PBDE in components sold in the European Union, and goes into effect in July 2006.

UPM Rafsec, a RFID tag manufacturer and member of UPM Group, announces today it has partnered with three new system integrators in China on a non-exclusive basis to better serve its end users. The three new partners are Ubhitech, Vision Electronics and Best Technology, located in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou respectively.

TACO, Cranston, R.I., has launched a green building marketing initiative. As part of its Taco Green program, the company has launched an advertising campaign in the HVAC trade press linking Taco to environmental considerations in efficient building design.

TAC, Boston, has announced that its bCX1 controller/router series of building controllers has earned a BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) listing as a BACnet Building Controller.

Schneider Electric's Square D Critical Power team has announced that it will continue to support a number of non-profit organizations and associations in the coming year, including 7x24 Exchange, Critical Power Coalition, Data Centre Dynamics, Electrical Generating Systems Assn. and Healthcare Engineering Network.

SimplexGrinnell, a business unit of Tyco Fire & Security, announced the launch of its new Sprinkler Business Development Team (SBDT). The launch of the SBDT is said to underscores SimplexGrinnell’s market prominence, highlights its commitment to the sprinkler business, and focuses on increasing profitability, growth and market share.
