Federal Government’s Official Business Site Re-Launches in October

For the first time, small business owners can go to one website to find federal compliance information. Business.gov , the official business link to the U.S. government, is re-launching on October 2 to focus on compliance information, federal forms and agency compliance contacts across multiple federal agencies. Staying in compliance is a more costly burden on small business than in larger companies.

Business.gov is managed by the U.S. Small Business Administration in a partnership with 21 federal agencies and is part of a Presidential Initiative.

The benefit to small and medium-sized businesses, which represent 99% of U.S. companies, is in saving time and money spent searching for compliance information.

The site features compliance searches on taxes, immigration laws, workplace safety, environment requirements and hundreds of other regulations that can present challenges for small business owners.

Some state compliance information will be available at the launch and the rest through subsequent updates to the site.

Business.gov was originally launched in 2004 and provided information on launching, managing, growing and getting out of a business. The new compliance focus came about through feedback from small business focus groups.
