05/18/2012

ESD (Environmental Systems Design Inc.), Chicago, has promoted Jacob Huske, Craig Kos, Andrew Lehrer, and Cierine Nicolas from senior associates to vice presidents.

Mr. Huske, an electrical engineer, is a technical leader in ESD’s mission critical facilities group. He is responsible for designing some of the most complicated technical areas of electrical engineering, including protective coordination and arc flash analysis, as well as fault tolerant design. A Professional Engineer in California, he holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Mr. Kos has played a key role on ESD’s health, science and institutional team and is currently the regional healthcare market sector lead. Prior to focusing on healthcare, Mr. Kos has provided mechanical designs for a variety of commercial, residential, and tenant development projects. A Professional Engineer in Illinois and a LEED AP (Accredited Professional), he earned a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Oklahoma at Norman. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE); and Healthcare Engineers Society of Northern Illinois (HESNI).

Since joining ESD in 2002 Mr. Lehrer has become a leader and technical resource in the commercial and international markets. Mr. Lehrer has served as the Project Manager and Lead Mechanical Designer on a variety of high rise commercial, redevelopment, mixed use, district energy, and large scale tenant interiors projects in the Chicagoland area. He has also been involved in projects across the country and in the Middle East. In addition, Mr. Lehrer has designed and managed several LEED certified projects in both the new construction and commercial interiors markets. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, he is a Professional Engineer in California, a LEED AP, and a member of ASHRAE.

Ms. Nicolas is a senior electrical engineer, multi-discipline technical coordinator and project manager for ESD’s International and Special Projects design team. She is responsible for the electrical power distribution and fire alarm design in high performance, mixed-use, high-rise and adaptive reuse commercial developments located throughout the world. Ms. Nicolas contributed to the success of ESD’s expansion into Saudi Arabia through her project management responsibilities of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) development and her technical contributions for Kingdom Tower. She is a Professional Engineer in California and a LEED AP. She completed a double major at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received bachelor of science degrees in electrical engineering and molecular & cellular biology (pre-med). She is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
