Engineers Without Borders-USA holds annual conference this weekend

Co-hosted by the University of Washington and Seattle University student chapters, and the Puget Sound professional chapter, the three-day conference will focus on the theme “Sustainable Engineering, Global Health."

Engineers Without Borders-USA will hold its annual conference today through Sunday on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus. More than 600 attendees will demonstrate how the group is creating a niche in the philanthropic community: professionals using their technical skills to complete clean water, sanitation, and infrastructure projects.

Co-hosted by the University of Washington and Seattle University student chapters, and the Puget Sound professional chapter, the three-day conference will focus on the theme “ Sustainable Engineering, Global Health ."

William H. Gates, Sr., co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will give the keynote speech Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Kane Hall 130.

The conference is sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, CH2M Hill, GeoEngineers, University of Washington College of Engineering, Boeing, CDM, HDR, Malcolm Pirnie, World Learning, Hazen and Sawyer, The Del Rio Family Foundation, Shannon & Wilson, Ford, Penetron, Brown and Caldwell, Herrera, Parametrix, AHBL, UW College of Forest Resources, and DiStefano Winery.
