In order to help promote energy efficiency in buildings, the Energize America Educational Institute (EAEI) has launched a new Internet portal to help connect energy users with energy service companies, manufacturers of energy-efficient products, environmental government agencies and sources of project financing.

Because close to 90% of U.S. buildings were built more than 15 years ago, the vast majority of facilities don’t employ the most up-to-date energy-efficient technology. Through www.energizeamerica.org , end users and upgrade providers can locate each other.

“America has a tremendous opportunity to drastically reduce its energy usage, trimming electricity costs by as much as 30%,” said Jeffrey Barnhart, a spokesperson for EAEI, a consortium of energy consultants and providers. “Through Energize America, we hope to spread the word and help corporations to be more energy efficient.”
