Danfoss receives refrigeration award

The U.K.-based Institute of Refrigeration recognizes Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc. founder Ron Conry for his contributions to the HVAC industry.

The U.K.-based Institute of Refrigeration awarded its 2008 Gold Medal to Ron Conry, founder of Tallahassee, Fla.-based Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc..

The institute awards the gold medal each year to someone who has made noteworthy, practical contributions to advance refrigeration and air conditioning technology. Conry and his team designed a centrifugal compressor that operates at high variable speeds, and is energy-efficient, oil-free, lightweight, quiet, and cost-competitive.

The international award has been sponsored for 32 years by J&E Hall International , a U.K.-based HVAC/R supplier.
