Loves Park, Ill.- Danfoss Drives , a division of Danfoss A/S (Graasten, Denmark), opened Nov. 26 a new manufacturing facility near its original operations in Rockford, Ill. The adjustable frequency drives supplier reports that, despite adverse global economic conditions, it decided to build the 123,000-ft2facility to increase development and production of high-power motor drives sold throughout North America and worldwide.
‘Together with our talented employees, this new Rockford facility dramatically increases our ability to grow our business and serve the needs of our customers,’ says Charles Manz, Danfoss Drives’ president. ‘We believe we’ll become more efficient and successful through our value-added manufacturing activities and increased product development capabilities.’
The $17-million facility includes a 10,000-ft2laboratory and an innovative co-located workspace that brings together all functional departments to help improve the product development process. The facility also houses Danfoss’ training, administration, and sales and marketing capabilities.
‘In an effort to accelerate innovation, we believe that co-locating all our teams fosters communication among departments, all of which have a say in product development. This leads to quicker, more thorough answers and solutions for our customers,’ says Mr. Manz. ‘The synergies created by having all of our Rockford manufacturing groups under one roof will ultimately improve efficiency and increase overall manufacturing capacity and the quality of our products.’
