Buro Happold appoints director of technical engineering

John Pulley has been appointed by Buro Happold to lead the firm's U.S. offices in knowledge management and sharing the firm's intellectual assets.

Buro Happold has appointed John Pulley, PE, LEED AP BD+C, as director of technical engineering for North America. Pulley has more than 30 years of experience in engineering design, project management, business development, and operations.

In his new role, Pulley leads knowledge management across Buro Happold’s five offices in the United States, developing systems for leveraging and sharing the firm’s intellectual assets. He also serves as a firmwide technical resource, guides mentorship initiatives, and oversees management strategies for large-scale projects.

Prior to joining the firm, Pulley was Vice President/Director of Engineering for HOK’s San Francisco office, where his projects included the Salt Lake City International Airport Terminal Modernization Program; the Sacramento Criminal Courthouse; China Construction Bank in Jinan, China; and the Fidelity Investments Corporate Headquarters in Dalian, China. He also served previously as MEP Director of Operations with SOM’s Chicago office.

Pulley is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies; the American Society of Plumbing Engineers; the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers; the Center for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat; the Construction Specifying Institute; the Commercial Building Consortium; the National Society of Professional Engineers; and the U.S. Green Building Council. He received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri and a bachelor of arts in physics from Drake University.
