Bolin awarded LEED Fellow designation by GBCI

Bolin, a senior vice president for Syska Hennessy Group, is one of 34 to receive the GBCI's highest award.

Courtesy: Syska HennessyThe Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) recently named Rob Bolin of Syska Hennessy Group to the inaugural class of LEED Fellows, GBCI’s new and most prestigious professional designation. The LEED Fellow designation recognizes exceptional contributions to green building and significant professional achievement within the rapidly growing community of LEED Professionals.

Bolin was among 34 of the world’s most distinguished green building professionals to be selected as LEED Fellows through a peer nomination and portfolio review process. Bolin’s LEED AP BD+C credentials, 22+ years of green building experience, and extensive portfolio including exemplary projects comprise a few of his outstanding qualifications. Current and recent high performance projects include: Hyundai AMCO tower in South Korea; Long Beach State Courthouse in Long Beach, CA; UC Berkeley Student Community Center, Berkeley, CA; UCSB Bioengineering Building, Santa Barbara, CA; 1800 F Street GSA Headquarters Modernization in Washington, DC; EPA Region 8 Headquarters Building, Denver, CO (LEED Gold); and the NRDC Santa Monica HQ Office, CA (LEED Platinum).

“We are thrilled to bestow the LEED Fellow designation upon these highly accomplished individuals,” said Peter Templeton, president, GBCI. “The Fellows are some of the leading innovators and vanguards of the green building movement, and their bodies of work strongly underscore their commitment to LEED and a sustainable built environment.”

Based out of Syska Hennessy Group’s Chicago office, Bolin is a senior vice president and national director of the high performance solutions team. His experience and expertise in sustainable architecture and green buildings include building designs for passive, low energy systems such as natural and mixed-mode ventilation, displacement ventilation, radiant heating and cooling, and building integrated renewable energy systems. Bolin has also presented on sustainability and high performance design at numerous regional, national and global conferences, including the upcoming 2011 CTBUH International Conference in Seoul, South Korea. He has an MSAE degree from Penn State University and a BSAE from University of Colorado; is a licensed professional engineer in numerous states; is a certified ASHRAE high performance building design professional (HPBD) and a national peer of the GSA Design Excellence program.
