As the director of mechanical engineering for HDR’s architecture practice, Yosten is responsible for the overall leadership, vision, strategic planning, and design excellence for mechanical engineering. In 2014, he was promoted to a mechanical discipline leader. Soon after, he became an associate vice president and managing engineering principal of the firm’s Omaha design studio in 2015. Most recently, he was promoted to vice president and global director of mechanical engineering for HDR’s architecture practice, in addition to his role as managing engineering principal of the Omaha studio. He actively engages with clients, organizations, and community leaders, bringing the latest technologies to the forefront. He is dedicated to the integration of innovation, sustainability, and quality while committing the highest level of service to the firm’s clients. A strategic leader and planner, Yosten works directly with design teams to help manage the success of all projects while mentoring staff within the engineering design discipline. He also is involved in ASHRAE, Kansas Healthcare Engineers’ Association; the Nebraska Society of Healthcare Engineers, the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, the Initiative for Health Environments, several HDR leadership groups, and the NorthStar Foundation, a local organization that supports at-risk students. He also is on the ACE Mentor of Omaha Board of Directors and the Omaha North Engineering Advisory Board. Yosten and his wife, Jill, are busy taking care of their twin boys, who just turned 1 this past December. They look forward to visiting the Lake of the Ozarks, as they do every summer, where they enjoy boating, wakeboarding, and relaxing with family and friends.
