Strandquest specializes in central energy plants and energy-saving concepts, currently serving as vice president and director of the education division for Matern Professional Engineering. For more than 15 years, Strandquest has worked with multiple architects, contractors, facilities directors, and owners, who enjoy working with him on a day-to-day basis. A father of two, Strandquest is actively involved with his children’s activities, and he enjoys hosting football tailgate parties with his wife and their friends. He has a wide range of experience in hotels and resorts, commercial applications, central energy plants, as well as K-12 and university facilities. Strandquest was responsible for the design of one of the largest hybrid geothermal HVAC systems in Florida, and the implemented “dual path” air-handler technology for improved IAQ in educational projects. With his guidance, thermal energy storage systems are at the forefront for K-12 and higher education facilities in Central Florida, and he also educates his clients and building owners on the importance of these energy-saving designs and the available power company rebates for each jurisdiction. He gives back to his community by donating many hours of his personal time to working with Harbor House, Nap Ford Community School, and the Haiti earthquake relief effort, and has also served as president and board member of his neighborhood’s Homeowner’s Association for 5 years.
