Senior Project Manager, NorCal Division, Southland Industries, San Francisco
By Emma Renee Dutton, Content Specialist
Michael St. Clair, LEED AP, 38
Senior Project Manager, NorCal Division, Southland Industries, San Francisco
The Pennsylvania State University, Bachelor of Architectural Engineering
St. Clair has become Southland Industries’ design-build maverick, mobilizing construction teams and successfully managing design-build projects throughout California, Oregon, Texas, and as far as Hawaii during his 15-year career as a senior project manager. His wife jokes that they no longer travel; they just relocate to a new project. It is important to St. Clair that his family reconnects and enjoys the scenic beauty that is all around amid busy commitments and deadlines. His experience includes energy services, HVAC, plumbing, and large commercial construction, and he regularly exceeds client expectations on challenging projects. One common denominator across his work is the ability to develop and lead dynamic project teams. He builds quality relationships, both personally and professionally, with participation in fund-raising activities such as the LEAP Sand Castle Competition, annual holiday karaoke events, and personally baking and decorating hundreds of cookies for clients and colleagues during the holidays. He is currently leading two major healthcare projects from which he gains extensive experience with OSHPD, Integrated Forms of Agreement, and LEAN construction principles. St. Clair has committed time to mentoring and assisting graduate students from local universities. His most rewarding outreach was an hour with his son’s kindergarten class, where he brought all the students construction hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests and patiently helped them cut a piece of pipe with a handsaw.
