Becky Ellsworth, PE, 34
Associate Principal, Senior Electrical Engineer, Interface Engineering, Portland, Ore.
University of Portland, BS Electrical Engineering
Born and raised in Portland, Ore., Ellsworth feels fortunate to have used her career to support sustainable values, and she is enthusiastic about the future of the building, construction, and electrical engineering industries. Ellsworth was promoted to associate principal at Interface Engineering after just 5 years with the firm, and currently leads a team of 12 MEP engineers, designers, and drafters on a variety of projects. As a member of the company’s standards committee, she is responsible for creating the electrical standards for the firm. Ellsworth’s notable projects include two buildings on the University of Oregon campus: the John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes and the Ford Alumni Center. The Jaqua Center is the only all-glass building with a dual skin façade to be built in Oregon. Outside of work, Ellsworth is passionate about cheering for the Portland Trailblazers, traveling to baseball stadiums around the country, working on her fiction novel, singing with family and friends, and giving back to the community. She particularly enjoys working with children and encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and she hopes to inspire more women to join the electrical engineering field. Currently, Ellsworth is volunteering for the Roosevelt High School Industry Education Program, which introduces freshmen to various career opportunities available in the building industry. Ellsworth is excited that today’s challenges are driving engineers to think outside the box, create new systems, and employ new strategies for sustainability.
