Justin Schultz, PE, LEED AP, 30

Electrical Engineer, Metro CD Engineering LLC, Dublin, Ohio

Ohio Northern University, BS Electrical Engineering; Ashland University, MBA

Schultz has made it a habit to go above and beyond in everything he does. Even as an undergraduate, he balanced varsity tennis and fraternity involvement while completing his electrical engineering degree with top marks. He took night and weekend classes toward attaining an MBA while working at Sprint (Embarq), his first job after college. During his time at Sprint, he created a software program for temporary use by the company’s forecasting teams; Sprint soon discovered how effective and user-friendly Schultz’s program was, and made it the permanent choice for the company to this day. He has designed software programs using databases and macros to improve processes, create useful information and reports, and improve company performance; four of these programs have been submitted for patents, which are currently pending. Now he is working at Metro CD Engineering, a small engineering firm where his initiative and leadership qualities make an enormous impact on the firm’s bottom line. Schultz became a LEED AP and PE just six months after entering the consulting industry. When the company received second place for the Best of Engineering Firm award from Columbus C.E.O. magazine, Schultz was one of two full-time PEs on staff. Never satisfied with undertaking one task at a time, Schultz also serves as education chairman for the local IES chapter, is part of the Communications Committee and Nominating Committee for the local USGBC chapter, and presents seminars on LEED and lighting design alternatives. He has volunteered his time as a horse leader and side walker to assist children with disabilities through equestrian therapy at the Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Schultz married his college sweetheart Kristin, and they volunteer together for the Soroptimist organization, which benefits women and girls around the world. He loves to spend his spare time playing tennis, working in his vegetable garden, and woodworking.
