Hall sensors for motors

11/04/2010

The entire range of 12- to 24-V Bosch dc electric motors with Hall sensors is available to developers of commercial, industrial, and medical applications that require precise control of motor speed or positioning mechanisms. When used with dc electric motors, Hall sensors can be used to detect the direction and speed of rotation, and position of the armature. By counting the generated output-voltage pulses, it becomes possible to determine the number of rotations, and therefore the speed, of the motor. Also, if the rotational motion is converted into a linear motion, it then becomes possible to monitor the range of travel exactly. If two Hall generators are installed offset to each other at a specific angle in a motor, then the direction of rotation can also be determined.
