Commercial rooftop unit

The Rebel commercial rooftop unit system from Daikin McQuay functions as a VAV heat pump unit down to 3 tons.

03/07/2012

The Rebel commercial rooftop unit system from Daikin McQuay functions as a variable air volume (VAV) heat pump unit down to 3 tons. In addition, the Rebel is uses variable heat pump technology with hybrid (gas, electric) heat options, variable electronically commutated motors (ECM) fan motors, and Daikin’s advanced variable inverter scroll compressor. When functioning as a VAV unit, Rebel allows for better comfort control. The motors used on all fans are variable speed ECM, which reduce noise, providing ultra-quiet operation for building occupants, while inverter compressor technology delivers unbeatable efficiencies. The Rebel unit will be available in 3- to 15-ton sizes and offers a modulating hot gas reheat option that contributes to efficient operation in colder weather climates, unlike other rooftop heat pump units. These benefits help make this energy-efficient unit ideal for low-rise commercial buildings such as schools or office buildings and as a dedicated outdoor air system that provides make-up air for 100% outdoor air applications.
