ACG 6th Annual Conference on Total Building Commissioning

Title: ASHRAE 189.1: What Does it Mean for Commissioning Providers?

Presenter: Kent W. Peterson, P.E., LEED AP, P2S Engineering, Chairman, 189.1 Committee

The newly published Standard 189.1, Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings, aims to revolutionize the building industry by providing long-needed guidance for those who strive to design, build and operate green buildings. Jointly developed by ASHRAE, IESNA, and USGBC, 189.1 is the first code-intended commercial green building standard in the United States.

189.1 Committee Chairman Kent Peterson will explain the goals and scope of the new standard—including energy use and efficiency, water use, IEQ, and others—with particular focus on the standard’s potential impacts on the commissioning process.

Kent Peterson is Vice President and Chief Engineer at P2S Engineering, with over 25 years of experience working in consulting engineering. He is a past president of ASHRAE, chair of the ASHRAE Associate Society Alliance, and served as Chair of ASHRAE/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1 – Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings.
