Study: Global expansion for BAS products

A study by ABI Research suggests that BAS products will be expanding into Australia and much of Asia by 2016.

07/29/2011

In Business Wire article, North America and Europe still remain the global leaders for building automation system (BAS) products. Other regions, however are starting to show signs of growth, according to a study by ABI Research. Growth, particularly in Asia and the Pacific, will be the largest in the next several years. Total revenue is expected to be over $32 billion in 2011 and increase to $37 billion in 2016.

Notable pockets of growth in Asia and the Pacific, according to ABI, include Australia, which has established a National Buildings Framework to establish consistency in energy efficiency. China, also, has made energy efficiency a priority with their new economic plan.

While the study by ABI is only forecasted to 2016, the study does suggest that BAS will be very much a global concept with China, the world’s second-biggest economy, leading the charge and trying to set an example for the rest of the region and having plenty of money with which to do it.
