With energy conversation becoming a greater priority for building owners, the lighting-controls market is expected to continue growing through 2006, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan, San Jose, Calif.

In a recent report, "North American Lighting Control Switch Market," the firm also notes that the total 1999 market for lighting-control switches was $413.1 million—a 4.6-percent increase from 1998 figures.

"Newer control technologies such as sensor switches will see the highest growth since they provide the greatest energy conservation and cost-saving benefits to end-users," explains Frost & Sullivan analyst, Tony Mardegain. "This move toward more intelligent devices has the lighting-controls market on an uphill trend."
