In a recent survey by AMI Environmental, 96% of respondents said that the healthcare architecture/engineering/construction market will grow in the next two years. The study also predicts that several new facility requirements will come into being as a result of market growth.

AMI, an environmental consulting and remediation management firm specializing in healthcare facilities, surveyed healthcare facility design staff—architects, engineers and healthcare administrators and facility managers—across the U.S.

Some of the study’s other key results suggest that:

  • the healthcare market is steadily growing.

  • the healthcare market has a “healthy” need for design services.

  • there will be a focus on healthcare facility renovation.

  • insufficient facility capacity and technology requirements are the primary reasons for healthcare project initiation.

  • outpatient facilities will be the highest in demand.

Mike Taylor, AMI’s director of corporate development, says of the survey results, “Growth is exactly what we expected to see. Capacity is a function of demand, and if you pay attention to the nation’s demographics, you know that a large portion of our population is growing older. With old age comes the need for more healthcare services. What is surprising about the study is the breadth of growth indicated.”
