Invensys Power Systems of Herndon, Va., will use secure collaboration-and-communications solution software from the Santa Clara, Calif.-based NexPrise Inc. in the manufacturing of its uninterruptible-power supply (UPS) units.

According to the companies, Invensys "outsources some of the design and manufacture of UPS components to partners around the world." Partners are located in Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Mexico. Previously, Invensys used fax, e-mail and overnight mail to collaborate with these global partners on engineering drawings and specifications.

"We are now able to provide information to our partners in real-time, which reduces our cycle times and increases accuracy," said Doug Harris, business process analyst for Invensys.
