Even though project Web sites have been receiving a lot of publicity lately, less than half of the design firms surveyed by Zweig White and Associates (ZWA) have actually used one on a project.

ZWA's report, "Information Technology Survey of A/E/P & Environmental Consulting Firms," covers networks, operating systems, information-technology management, training and spending.

And while the survey shows a relatively small number of firms using project sites, the research also indicates that use will increase in the immediate future. While those firms who tested out project collaboration software only used it for an average of two projects this past year, they plan to use project Web sites for an average of nine projects next year.
