Collaborative solutions to unify operations, commercial interests

Honeywell and SAP AG will enable oil and gas companies to better leverage plant information in business decisions, Honeywell said.

Honeywell is working with SAP AG to deliver collaborative solutions in which data generated from an industrial plant can lead to better business decisions. The companies plan to offer integrated offerings, initially focused on the oil and gas market, combining Honeywell Process Solutions’ (HPS) deep domain expertise in production planning and scheduling with SAP’s know-how in enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain logistics and business analytics, according to Honeywell.

This combination reportedly will deliver powerful and innovative business tools for manufacturing organizations that will enable proactive, and, where necessary, preventive measures that will avoid production downtime, while keeping people, the environment and assets safe. This collaboration from Honeywell and SAP addresses the knowledge gap between business and operations groups in both upstream and downstream oil and gas organizations through greater sharing, collaboration and analysis of relevant data generated at both the plant level and across the enterprise.

Through the use of SAP BusinessObjects analytic applications, data from disparate sources can be combined and analyzed, enabling clear communication and providing superior levels of business decision support. “Our integrated portfolio will help oil and gas operations run better by enabling the closed-loop management of operations performance,” said Kerstin Geiger, co-head, Industries Solution Management, SAP. “As the respective leaders in enterprise application software and plant-level software for the industry, SAP and Honeywell are collaborating to deliver integrated solutions based on the expertise and experience of each company. Our cooperation will help drive innovations to market that will exploit SAP’s analytics, in-memory and mobility technologies, and ultimately transform oil and gas operations.”

“Collaboration between the manufacturing and commercial sides of oil and gas organizations can be a challenge,” said Norm Gilsdorf, president, Honeywell Process Solutions. “Our solutions and domain expertise bridge the gap because they enable information and insight from a plant to be combined with information from the enterprise, resulting in clear communication and quick and correct decision making.”
