Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced it has been selected by Valio, the largest milk producer in Finland, to provide a production automation system for a new plant producing high-quality, demineralized whey powder at its complex in Lapinlahti, Finland. Demineralized whey powder is increasingly used in products such as baby food and is an ingredient sought after by consumers.

The Lapinlahti site is being designed to the strictest hygiene, food safety and energy efficiency standards. Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) will deploy its Experion Process Knowledge System, unifying process, assets and people in order to boost business agility, and allowing existing Valio process equipment to integrate into the new automation system. The company will also modify the architecture of Valio’s existing Process History Database to provide a richer, more flexible environment for the collection, storage and analysis of process data used in the facility. HPS will also install, test and commission the new equipment.
