The Latin American market for room and packaged air-conditioning equipment is slated to jump to more than $1 billion by 2004. This shift, as projected by the U.K.-based research firm BSRIA, shows a dramatic increase over the $793 million sales recorded for the year 2000.

The Latin American market for room and packaged air-conditioning equipment is slated to jump to more than $1 billion by 2004. This shift, as projected by the U.K.-based research firm BSRIA, shows a dramatic increase over the $793 million sales recorded for the year 2000.
Leading the pack is Brazil, forecasted to be doing 50 percent of the region's sales by 2004. Currently, Argentina accounts for 21 percent of the market, followed by Mexico at 17 percent. Venezuela and Puerto Rico rank fourth and fifth.
Even though Latin America's market for central plant air-conditioning equipment is considerably smaller, it is also growing and is expected to increase 7 percent per year, reaching $227 million by 2004.Brazil is also the fastest growing market for these products, followed by Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
