Let me introduce you to some winning people, and some amazing products.

If you followed Charlie Sheen’s recent clashes with the media, you’d know that “winning” has taken on a whole new meaning. To him, winning is an addiction. To others, it’s part of a larger goal. To me, it’s a driving force behind what I do daily. There are several others out there who agree:

You only need to browse the pages of the May issue to feel excited about the winning future of our industry. We have two groups of winners we’d like to introduce you to this month.

First, we introduce you to the 2011 40 Under 40 winners, profiled by writer Bettina Chang. These individuals have found ways to propel their firms to success by starting new offices, bringing in new clients, improving products and services, and expanding the scope of the business during a period of economic uncertainty. They have climbed through the ranks at firms throughout North America and have succeeded as leaders at every level. They’re leaders in their community, and give back via charitable organizations. They’re the mentors of the next generation, and parents of the next generation. So watch out; they are poised to become high-profile innovators of tomorrow.

The second group is the 2011 Product of the Year Finalists. In this case we let you, the reader, select the winners. We’ve assembled products in 10 categories. These technologies were introduced or brought to market last year, and represent products that can make your job easier, make buildings more efficient or smart, or propel the industry to the next level. Based on your votes, we’ll select gold, silver, and bronze winners in each category and highlight them in the September issue. We invite you to vote for your favorite in each category.
