Welcome from the 2012 EGSA president

For the past 47 years, EGSA has been a trusted resource in the industry—not just for our members, but for engineers and facility managers like yourself, who are responsible for meeting the ever-increasing business demands for emergency power solutions.

It gives me great pride to make a formal introduction on behalf of the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA). We are the world’s largest trade organization dedicated specifically to on-site power, which is defined as any method of producing power that will be used on or near the site at which it is generated. This includes emergency standby, demand response, prime power, rental, and cogeneration. It even encompasses alternative power sources such as wind, solar, and fuel cells.

For the past 47 years, EGSA has been a trusted resource in the industry—not just for our members, but for engineers and facility managers like yourself, who are responsible for meeting the ever-increasing business demands for emergency power solutions.

EGSA is the group that built your on-site electrical generating system. Our members made the engine, the generator, and every electrical and mechanical accessory component from the switchgear to the exhaust rain cap. Our members design, manufacture, distribute, install, and service gensets. We are professionals and are constantly learning and striving to be the best at what we do.

To date, we have more than 800 member companies. If your business has any involvement with on-site power—whether it is emergency standby, prime power, CHP/co (or tri)-generation, or demand response—please get to know us. I am certain that we can learn from each other. We have several opportunities each year to get together face-to-face. Why not plan on joining us for breakfast at our Spring Convention in Sarasota, Fla., in March 2013 and/or our Fall Technical and Marketing Conference in Seattle, Wash., in Sept. 2013? There will be tabletop displays at the Exhibitor Showcase, great topical presentations, and the chance to meet a highly enthusiastic group of genset experts. Check out www.egsa.org for details. We look forward to welcoming you.
