We’d like to welcome you back, and welcome you to something new. Longtime readers of this magazine will notice very few changes, yet CFE Media is something entirely new – and not just in name.

When the opportunity came along three months ago to purchase the assets of Consulting-Specifying Engineer, Control Engineering and Plant Engineering, we took a long, hard look at both the world of publishing and engineering. Both face many challenges, and even as the economy improves, both face a changed world.

We see engineering as vital to the resurgence and growth in the economy, both in the U.S. and around the world. We see the functions our readers perform as crucial to address the issues of safety and productivity, of energy efficiency and sustainability. The strategic thinking of our readers will help lead that effort and help grow jobs and the economy in the process.

To do that, they will need the best information, delivered dynamically through whatever information channel these choose to use. As you can see today, the print product is still alive and valuable in so many ways to so many readers. We also relaunched our Website in June to help provide fresh content and archived information to our audience that gathers its information online.

Our newsletters provide concise ways to manage information in topical areas. Our Webcast series deliver live, interactive content on crucial issues facing engineers everywhere. We have a continuing relationship with trade associations and user groups to gather the latest information on trends in engineering.

To help you meet your goals, we are committed to connecting with our customers on a continuing basis. You’ll find our content managers and our senior management team reaching out to those end users on a regular basis. We hope to all will take advantage of the opportunity to reach out to us with your ideas, your needs and you expectations. It will involve in-depth research and discussions with key industry leaders on both the policy and supply sides of the business. This dialogue will shape what information we collect and how we deliver it to you, when YOU need it.

As we move forward, we’ll offer interactive apps for the developing smart phone market that will provide even more targeted content right to your cell phone. We will reach out in new ways to forge a dialogue between our end users, connecting this network of engineers to each other and to the thought leaders in manufacturing.

Our end goal is a simple one: to deliver content as you want it, when you need it, in the channel that best fits your job. With the team we’ve assembled and with the need for such information in the engineering community, we think this is the perfect time for CFE Media.

That’s why, when we took that long, hard look at engineering and publishing three months ago, we looked past the challenges and changes and looked at this opportunity. We invite all of you to be a part of that opportunity.
