This week Morrissey Goodale tracked three international transactions. This maintains the total year-to-date deal count in the United States at 128, still up 8% over the 119 domestic deals tracked through the same period in 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count is now 235, down 2% to the 240 global deals tracked through the same period last year.

International engineering, consulting and project management services firm AMEC (London, UK) signed an agreement to acquire a 50-percent stake in Kromav Engenharia (KROMAV) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), a 200-person offshore oil and gas and marine engineering firm specializing in offshore platforms, FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading) vessels and other marine applications. The investment will contribute towards AMEC's Vision 2015 strategy to develop fully integrated service capabilities in Brazil.  Moving forward, the company will do business as AMEC KROMAVLink to details

Full-service consulting engineering firm Ted Jacob Engineering Group (Oakland, CA) expanded its Middle East operation by acquiring a 100-percent interest in the Dubai-based engineering division of international architecture practice RMJM (Edinburgh, United Kingdom). Through the transaction, Ted Jacob takes on approximately 120 staff in the region. Ted Jacob specializes in the planning, design and construction of healthcare, science and technology, higher education and mixed-use facilities and currently features Middle East offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Erbil (Iraq), Bahrain and Beirut to complement domestic offices in Oakland, Los Angeles and Chicago. Link to details

Infrastructure support, asset management, design and project management consultancy Amey (Oxford, United Kingdom) acquired a 100-percent equity interest in Nationwide Distribution Services (NDS) (Rugby, United Kingdom) a 130-person independent lighting connections provider. The acquisition further enhances Amey's capability in planning, design, installation, management and maintenance on street lighting contracts and also makes Amey one of the first firms in the UK authorized to self-deliver its own main connections for street lighting plans. Link to details

In an interesting note (though not considered a deal for the purposes of this update), Sembcorp Marine through its wholly-owned subsidiary and leader in the engineering and construction of offshore production platforms and floating production facilities SMOE (Singapore) acquired from Smulders Group the entire share capital of SLP Engineering (Lowestoft, United Kingdom), a leading supplier of minimum facility platforms, accommodation modules, process decks and PAUs to the oil and gas markets and of offshore substations for wind farms, meteorological weather masts and tidal energy projects to the renewables markets.
