The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has notified Johnson Controls, a leader in delivering products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, that the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center of Huntsville, Ala. has awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems, LLC (JCBAS).

Under this IDIQ Electronic Security Systems V (ESS V) contract, Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems, LLC (JCBAS) will compete with five other awardees on the projects totaling $650 million. The scope of projects will include the procurement and installation of systems and equipment at U.S. Dept. of Defense installations worldwide, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, building controls, physical security systems and products, fire alarm and life safety systems, anti-terrorism measures, and force protection. The contract scope will also include chemical, biological and radiological detection, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), metering and mass notification systems.

“This large and important award continues a very important Johnson Controls relationship with the USACE that began with the Pentagon renovation in 1997. We look forward to continuing to serve the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and our war fighters in the U.S. and overseas under this contract,” said John Murphy, vice president and general manager, Systems, North America, Latin America, Middle East, and Global Security and Strategies, Johnson Controls.

In addition to the prime contract, Johnson Controls is a key subcontractor to Evergreen Fire Alarms, LLC, of Tacoma, Wash., which has been awarded an ESS V contract under the restricted (small business) procurement with a shared value of $250 million.
