Nematron Signs OEM Agreement with Schneider Automation

Nematron Corp. announced Jan. 27 that it signed a multimillion dollar contract to supply a series of its Pentium- and Pentium II-based open architecture industrial control computers (ICCs) to Schneider Automation (North Andover, Mass.) under a private label OEM agreement.

Ann Arbor, Mich. Nematron Corp. announced Jan. 27 that it signed a multimillion dollar contract to supply a series of its Pentium- and Pentium II-based open architecture industrial control computers (ICCs) to Schneider Automation (North Andover, Mass.) under a private label OEM agreement. With an estimated value of over $50 million based on initial forecasts, Nematron expects this new multiyear contract to substantially increase its revenues beginning in the third and fourth quarters of its 1998 fiscal year. Nematron's ICCs are NEMA-4 rated, flat-panel computers based on Intel's Pentium, Pentium Pro, and Pentium II microprocessors. These ICCs also include a hinged chassis that swings open for easy access to the rear chassis assembly. Nematron was recently awarded a U.S. patent for this design, allowing the "extended life display backlight" to be changed in less than five minutes. The chassis can also be exchanged with temporary replacement parts without tools.
