ISA releases CAP Learning System demo
By Plant Engineering Staff
ISA has recently released a fully operational free online demo of its Certified Automation Professional (CAP) Learning System. The system is a comprehensive CAP exam preparation and professional development tool.
The program combines printed textbooks with online review and testing tools to provide automation training. The CAP Learning System includes comprehensive print materials, including seven textbooks covering the entire CAP body of knowledge and the seven technical topics on the exam. Textbooks are formatted to facilitate efficient learning and review.
A second component of the Learning System is a complete online learning module. This part of the Learning System focuses on review and testing, with a test bank of 500 multiple choice questions and a pre-test to help applicants determine strengths and weaknesses. Individuals can then create a customized study plan based on their needs. Tests at the end of each module give immediate feedback, answer rationales, and reference to the relevant sections in the text. A timed post-test, designed to emulate the computer-based CAP exam, increases the comfort level of individuals regarding exam format and helps determine readiness. The system also features eFlashcards to test knowledge of relevant terms and definitions. An online progress report gives updates on completed exercises and scores, and the program has an online glossary for quick reference of terms.
"The CAP Learning System is based on comprehensive content developed by ISA experts, and it focuses on efficient preparation for the CAP exam," said Dale Lee, ISA Director of Certification Services. "It's convenient for busy automation professionals, because they can study on their own terms instead of having to travel to attend several classes."
ISA's CAP Learning System offers a self-directed option meant for individuals, and a corporate group option, where multiple employees can train at a discounted price.
