Foxborough, Mass.— Intellution presented Jan. 25-26 product enhancements scheduled for 2001 release and unveiled iLogic, which develops Java applets and produces source code in Java, C++, or C. Steve Rubin, Intellution's ceo and co-founder, outlined the company's flexible platform-based design philosophy, which stresses "tweakable" or "customizable" solutions. Enhancements to iFIX 2.5 will include Microsoft Windows 2000 readiness, alarm handling improvements, Visual Basic Application (VBA) 6 support, and terminal server support [read server/thin client], which allows multiple users to run concurrent sessions via standard intranet/Internet-based browser interfaces. iFix is also gaining electronic signature capability to help users comply with 21 CFR Part 11. The company will also introduce iHistorian, a scalable (100,000 + tags) and fast (25,000 tags per second) historian. Improvements to iBatch will include adding iWorkInstruction and a "soft" phase logic module.
