Fixed Capacitors for Low Voltage Power Factor Correction
StacoVAR fixed capacitors for power factor correction and harmonic compensation.
Staco Energy Products introduces its second generation of StacoVAR fixed capacitors for power factor correction and harmonic compensation. These standard units are available from 2.5 kVAR to 400 kVAR as economical, fixed motor load (ML) type capacitor assemblies.
Equipped with fusing and blown-fuse indicator lights as standard, StacoVAR fixed capacitor assemblies are idea for indoor or outdoor use with voltages from 240 Vac to 600 Vac. These complete assemblies are UL 508A listed, c-UL, and available from stock or with fast delivery times. They are ideal for improving power factor where induction motors are located, including manufacturing facilities, food and beverage processing, warehousing and distribution centers, water and wastewater treatment plants, and more.
These metalized polypropylene capacitors are self-healing to prevent permanent dielectric breakdown. Each capacitor is designed for a long service life over a wide temperature range. They withstand the most demanding conditions, including harmonics of up to 10% THD. Pressure sensitive circuit interruption within the capacitor allows the units to be safely removed from service under heavy fault conditions while maintaining case integrity. External discharge resistors allow voltage to be reduced to 50 volts or less in one minute.
StacoVAR ML capacitors are housed in a rugged metal enclosure and include a terminal type power line connection for quick, simple installation. Available enclosures include NEMA 1, 12, or 3R ratings. They can be mounted either vertically or horizontally to meet a variety of application needs. Current limiting fuses are rated at 165% of the rated current. Three blown fuse indicator lights provide illumination for fuse replacement.
