Austin, Tex.—To streamline its global supply chain, Fisher-Rosemount Systems announced Feb. 9 that it has agreed with ACT Manufacturing, Inc. (Hudson, Mass.), a global electronics manufacturing services provider, to establish a global "straight-through" manufacturing process for components used in its automation system solutions, from circuit board manufacturing through final assembly. With 20% more orders than a year ago, Fisher-Rosemount Systems needed to respond faster to current customers while also expanding its customer base.
This straight-through approach is expected to improve cycle times and customer service by minimizing handoffs and time lags throughout the supply chain. As part of this agreement, Fisher-Rosemount Systems will sell its Leicester, England-based board manufacturing operations to ACT. Fisher-Rosemount Systems' global installed base services, repair, and order management will remain in their current locations. Terms of the agreement with ACT were not disclosed.
